Well I'll be gosh darn, can ya'll believe it's Thursday already? Oh don't be mistaken, this girl is not complaining! This week has been a doozy at work...just pure craziness. Has anyone else had as hectic as week as me?

I'm sooo excited for the weekend though. My sweet fella and I are heading down to central Arkansas about 3 and a half hours away to visit my parents for the weekend. My folks live in one of the most beautiful parts of the state on a small farm, so we plan to spend lots of time enjoying the gorgeous weather and the great outdoors : )

So let's take things from outdoors to indoors for a sec and talk about decor.

One of my favorite trends in decorating for fall right now is metallics. Bronze, gold, silver and copper all have their place on the homefront this fall.

Using metallics in your decor scheme is such a simple way to add a touch of luxury and glitz to any home. It can be incorporated into pretty much any theme or color palette and looks especially great during the holiday season, (hence the reason it's so big during fall/winter!)

Here are a few things to remember when decorating with metals:

1. Don't be afraid to mix and match- it's actually much more contemporary. Throw a silver candelabra next to a bronze bookend for an eclectic, high-end look. Try some pewter napkin rings with your copper placecard holders...the more color variation in your metals, the better!

2. Vary the shine- You definitely don't want all shiny metals or all dull metals. Once again, the ticket is to mix things up! This keeps it visually interesting and also prevents things from becoming too bling-tastic : )

3. Avoid brass. I know, I know, supposedly brass has made itself a comeback, but I just can't help but have total 80's flashbacks. I'd just avoid brass anything altogether because I have a feeling this particular hardware trend won't last like the others. Plus it's downright tacky.

Well heavens to Betsy, it's Wednesday, y'all. Two things:

1. I actually had a good friend/sorority sis in college named Betsy. Her name totally did NOT fit her at all, but the expression "heavens to Betsy" obviously makes me think of her...and smile : )

2. Thank you all for your very sweet comments and emails regarding my hair in the pic from last Saturday's post. I will likely not be dying my hair dark any time soon again, but I appreciate that you think I can bat for both hair teams...muchas gracias, chicas!

Hoo'kay...so, let's talk about faux fur. Love it or loathe it?

True. There is nothing more horrid or cheap-looking than bad fake fur. Nothing says "I work on the street corner" quite like a $10 mink jacket from The Icing.

But nothing says I'm cruel and heartless quite like wearing real fur. So basically it's a lose/lose. Unless you can find legit-looking faux fur.

Hard to do, but it can be done. Lemme show ya'.

Gettin' Pretty With It

So I haven't blogged since like, oh, Saturday. I feel like a big ole slacker, y'all.

Yesterday was just crazytimes at work; literally one of those days that began with a 3+ hour meeting and was followed by an onslaught of frenzied emails/phone calls for the remainder of the day. So yeah, blogging didn't exactly take front and center.

Anywho, Monday is O-V-E-R and today is Tuesday, (which is a definite "upgrade" in my book). So let's talk about beauty products, m'kay?

Let me begin by saying, I'm a bit of a product junkie. Can't help it. It's a sickness and I'd get treatment, but that would likely be very expensive. And in my opinion, that's money better spent at Sephora.

I definitely have designated seasonal products. You know, like lighter moisterizer for summer and heavier conditioner for winter, etc., etc., so on and so forth.

In no order whatsoever, here are some products I'm currently really digging for fall. And yes, I do own and use all of them. It's sad, I know:

Living Proof No Frizz Conditioner
I blogged about this miraculous stuff a couple weeks ago and I'm still loving it. It makes my thick hair behave about as well as it's ever going to. And it smells good- bonus!

Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief Moisterizer
Make no mistake, this gel-based moisterizer packs a powerful punch. It feels super light on your skin and absorbs fast, so it's perfect to wear underneath make-up. I use it for day and night.

Philosophy Apricots and Cream
This bath cream was made in heaven and is currently sold at Sephora. It smells super sweet and leaves my skin feeling really soft, which is important during the winter months.

Lancome L'Absolu Rouge Lipstick in Rose
Picked this shade up last week at The Mothership and LURVE it. I'm definitely a gloss girl during summer, but I like a bit more color in fall/winter. I love the drama that lipstick provides and this color gives me just the perfect amount.

Stila Eyeshadow Pan in Ebony
I'm all about a smoky eye in the fall and winter. This shadow looks intimidating, but it's actually very pretty and soft when applied.

Maybelline Falsies Mascara in Black
It's thick, it stays on pretty well and it makes my shrimpy lashes pop. Nuff said.

Sephora by OPI Nail Colour in On Stage
This opaque grey plum shade practically screams winter. I'm currently sporting it on my toes, but since peep-toes are about to give way to boots for the next few months, I'll likely be painting my tips soon.

Oscar Blandi Pronto Invisible Volumizing Dry Shampoo Spray
I love using this stuff if I'm pressed for time and need to freshen up my hair. You just spray it in like hair spray, making sure to concentrate it at the roots. The end result? Your hair feels freshly shampooed and you still have time to grab a latte before work.

Ok, so those are a few of mine, but of course a girl could always use some more. So tell me, what are YOUR fave products for fall?

Takin' On Texas

Pic was taken last year when my hair was brown...fear not, I'm blonde again, y'all!

My momma and daddy are down in Arlington for the big game today and, needless to say, I'm a little jealous : ) Oh how I'd like to be at Cowboys Stadium right now...

Anywho, here's hoping our Razorbacks kick some Texas rear this afternoon. I've got faith y'all can do it, boys!

Wedge-heeled footwear was huge this past summer and the trend has definitely carried over to the cooler months. Wedge boots in every color, height and style are positively everywhere right now. I personally love this style so much. It’s sexy enough to make you feel all pretty and girly, (and satisfyingly tall, for we vertically challenged ladies),  but also durable and wearable enough to get you through a long winter.

The sleeved shift dress is such a simple item, yet it’s versatility is positively limitless. I love them with opaque tights and heeled ankle boots for fall.

The new look when it comes to layering: The blanket sweater. I’ll be honest, y’all, this is basically just a glorified cardigan- a sweater on steroids, if you will. But it’s totally cute and snuggly and oh-so-perfect to wear with dark skinnies and wedge boots for autumn.
