Girl Fight

We're taking a sec today to talk about something a bit deeper than fashion or decor; something that is without a doubt one of the most important causes to women around the world. As many of you know, October is national Breast Cancer Awareness month, and here at A Blonde Ambition, we're pitching in to raise awareness.

Although I would highly recommend participating in events like Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, (go here to find a race in your area), there are other ways to help lead the fight against breast cancer. Designers and make-up mavens like Betsey Johnson and Bobbi Brown are getting involved and I must say, never has there been a more fashionable time to put up a fight. Portions of proceeds from these and many other items will be donated to the Susan G. Komen foundation.

Ok, so the coolest thing...I saw some football game highlights the other morning while I was getting ready for work and noticed that the players were all wearing pink shoes and gloves and that the field was painted with the pink ribbon emblem. I think they've actually done this in past years too, but it was still neat to see big, tough linebackers sporting hot pink cleats, haha. It was also super cool to see the cheerleaders wear cute, pink outfits in support of the ladies. Thanks NFL boys and girls!

New Orleans Saints cheerleaders sported their pink pom poms in support of Breast Cancer awareness.

You can get your own girly NFL gear (like the adorable shirt and hat above) here, and help support the cause at the same time.

For more information about the fight against breast cancer, visit Susan G. Komen for the Cure. I'd encourage all of you to participate in a race or walk, but even if you can't, try wearing a pink ribbon this month for a fellow sister in the fight.

I'm such a kid when it comes to holidays, especially those that involve tricking out my apartment with kitcshy decor and wearing a ridiculous get-up. Thus, Halloween holds a special place in my heart.

I've been holding out on putting up all the boo-tastic finery until October rolled around, but seeing as how it is now October 5th....well...let's get this party started, shall we?

Because I am eons more mature and refined than I used to be (righttttt.....), I've been trying to find more stylish, toned-down Halloween decor. Less Adams Family, more Martha-Stewart-gone-Goth. I call it Spooky Chic.

Now you just can't do All Hallow's Eve without some devilishly sexy make-up. But you also don't want to look like Elvira's twin sister...it can be a tricky balance. Let's try...

Holy Monday, I'm back! I haven't blogged in 4 WHOLE DAYS. That is a long time for this web nerd, lemme tell ya. I was still feeling puny on Friday from the Great Stomach Bug of 2010, so I spent the day nursing my blue Gatorade on the couch and watching riveting shows like MTV True Life: I'm a Mixed Martial Arts Fighter.

Daytime TV is awful, by the way.

But guess what, I'm sick no mo'.

So anywho, this weekend was awesome/amazing/wonderful/perfect. The weather was downright chilly and it finally felt like fall outside. And for some reason, when fall comes around, I get the urge to cook.

I spent nearly the entire day yesterday preparing food/baking food/cooking food and loved every greasy, cheesy, sugary moment of it.

With all of these culinary thoughts on the brain, I took a little cruise on the internet this morning to scope out some of Anthropologie's oh-so-chic cookware. I bookmarked some of these a few weeks ago and was going to share with y'all, but boots and skirts and leggings just sounded like better blog material at the time. Fashion trumps everything, per usual : )

My favorite have to be these...the Ladies in Waiting plates. How very royal.

I also have a weird soft spot for cutesy spoons. Love both of these sets, especially the shell-looking measuring ones. They make me want to whip up a hearty chowder and go digging for clams on the beach at my weekend home in Maryland...if only I did things like chowder-making and clam-digging....or had a weekend home in Maryland. Yeah.

Ok, real quick, gotta brag on my guy a sec. My sweet boyfriend sent me a dozen red beauties last Thursday at work and frankly, I melted (please ignore the Starbucks cup in the photo...oops.) I thought it was because I was sick last week, but no. He had planned to send them before I was sick. Just. Because.

Lucky girl, I am.
