Pie Winners, Football and a Cute 'Lil Bambino

Oh my....the football upsets, the pie, the cute babies....wait one sec...

Let's discuss the football first. Guess who moved up to the #3 spot in the BCS last night? Oh, that's right....WE did!

We gave Mississippi State a whoopin' on Saturday afternoon and spent the rest of the day praying for Baylor to beat Oklahoma and USC to best Oregon. Nothing against OU or Oregon, but we would REALLY like to make it to the championship this year.

Welp, the stars aligned and the gods of football smiled upon us...USC and Baylor did their due diligence and we're in the third spot today! There's only one thing this can mean...

The SEC West just kicks tail, frankly.

Oh Lord, it's hard to be humble, when you're an Arkansas Razorback fan (or LSU fan, or 'Bama fan)  : )

In other news, our sweet little niece and nephew paid us a visit on Saturday afternoon during the game! Miss Ava wasn't feeling camera ready and passed on the photos, (as we girls have a right to do, now and then), but I did snag this one with precious little Reed:

I was so glad to catch up with my sister in law Sarah, too. She's not only family, but such an incredible friend. We can literally talk about anything and everything...and we do, haha! She's an amazing example of what it means to be a good mom and really, she's just a good person. Beautiful inside and out.

And finally, the moment I'm sure you've been awaiting with bated breath all weekend...

The winner of the Pie In the Sky Contest is

...................................................................................................

...................................................................................................

...................................................................................................

It's a Trifecta Tie!

In honor of the the best top three EVER (ok, maybe not ever, but still...), I decided to get three fabulous prizes and have three fabulous winners. All three pies were painfully, sinfully good. And let's face it, who can choose a winner when all three are so different from one another?

They'll all get a fabulous little wearable baubble from one of my favorite stores up here in the N-Dubya-A. I'll try to post recipes later in the week for y'all, 'cuz believe me, you want these!

Alright, I'm off to put on something Razorback-red and start praying for victory against LSU Friday.

Be blessed, lovelies-

Pie in the Sky

via Hummingbird Bakery
Happy Friday, lovey dovies! So happy that the week has come to an end and that the next two days will probably consist of sleeping late : )

We plan to get up early on Saturday, run a half marathon, organize our closet according to color and prepare a six course gourmet dinner for our 20 closest friends.

Yeah, not so much.

In reality, we plan to make chili, watch the Hogs game and test out pie recipes in preparation for Thanksgiving. We're incredibly ambitious on the weekends, you see.

But about the actual making of those aforementioned pies...

I need help, y'all.

I've attempted a pie once. It was nothing short of a trainwreck. I mean the crust burned, filling was oozing out the top, the smoke detector was going off...pretty much, it was a smashing failure.

(I'd recount all the gory details, but I'm pretty sure I've blocked it out of my mind. I like to think of it as Post-Traumatic Culinary Disaster Stress Disorder.)

Or PTCDSD, a brief and easy to remember acronym.

Anywho, when the fams were discussing where the Thanksgiving festivities would be held this year, I , the naive newlywed, proudly raised my hand, ready to tackle the duties of holiday hostessing. But now, well, I'm kind freakin'.

Stephen purchased a turkey fryer from Amazon last week and my mom-in-law is making rolls. My dear momma has volunteered to come up a day early and help me prepare sides and such. But the one, lingering dark spot over my head are those darn pies...

I'm good with cakes, better with brownies and have been known to kick booty at cookies. But it seems that anything requiring making and rolling dough are just...welll...hard.

So here's where you come in...

I need y'all to email me some pie recipes. Pumpkin, strawberry, peanut butter, sweet potato, whatever and whathaveyou. Just send it.

What do you get for this? Well, a fabulous little gift. I'm not sure yet, because I haven't bought it. (The picture of thought and preparedness, I am.)

But it will be fabulous. You can bet your Kate Spade slingbacks on that.

Anywho, I'll pick the top 3 pie recipes, post them on here and have y'all vote on which is your favorite. This may require you to actually make the 3 pies. Or you can just vote on which is the prettiest. The recipe that gets the most votes, get a gift from moi.

To keep this contest fair, the judge will be my husband. He doesn't know who in the Sam Hill any of y'all are, so he'll be very diplomatic about the whole ordeal. I'll even blindfold him, if it would make y'all feel better.

Ready, set....EMAIL YOUR PIE RECIPIES!!
