Caroline's Newborn Photos

A couple weeks after Caroline was born, my friend Bethany McGhehey took the most lovely photos of her. I knew that I wanted Bethany to shoot her newborn pics because she has such a refreshingly simple and clean style to her photos.

Captured were back rolls, full cheeks, a perfect set of puffy bow-shaped lips and a head of chocolate-colored hair. Nothing forced or overly posed about it, as if she just happened to catch a moment in time.

I wept as I flipped through them. My baby girl, growing every day, each faster than the next.

I've found myself wanting to relive the day she was born, as well as those first few weeks, over and over again. To smell her and touch her porcelain skin for the first time; the same little being that shared my body for nine wondrous months.

In looking at these photos, I'm able to do just that.

Worth a Follow

Do you lovely ladies Instagram? I held out for a while, but when I started my new job last March, all my co-workers were doing it, so I jumped on the bandwagon. {Sidenote: You know the old adage, "If everyone else jumped off a bridge, would you do it too?" Unfortunately, I probably would. I hate being out of the loop. Or out of the water, as it would occur.}

Anywhoodle, I jumped on the Instagram train and never looked back. Full speed ahead, all in, pedal to the metal...what have you.

Here are a few fine folks that I enjoy following and thought you might, too. (Note: I love following my real life friends far more than these cats, but I know some of them hold "private" accounts, so I didn't list those below.)

Why I love this feed:
It's awesome. And just like a mini version of the magazine. Plus, it gives you kind of an inside look at the goings on around HB.

Our Christmas Card Photos!

We recently did a photo session with the fabulous Bethany McGhehey of Bethany Blair Photography and to say we were pleased with the results, is an understatement.

We found Bethany just a month ago from the recommendation of a couple of blog/Twitter friends and we're so glad we did. She captured exactly what we had in mind for fall photos at the University of Arkansas Old Main building.

The tough part is deciding which one to choose for the Christmas card photos : )

This one.

I will admit; I am not ashamed of my calves in this pic : )

Bethany, thank you so much for capturing these special memories for us. We will cherish these for years to come and we can't wait to work with you again next year!

Come back tomorrow and meet the amazing Kayla Mustacci, Arkansas Master Florist and decorator. She's Martha Stewart with a southern twist : ) Come early, so that you can get your order in fast. Her creations will go quickly!

*The photos above are screen caps from our proofing gallery, so please do not re-post or Pin. Thank you, girls!

Also, I had to brag on my dad today. He's on a business trip in Florida and went deep sea fishing in Fort Lauderdale yesterday. He managed to catch this whopping 50-pound Wahoo. My dad, the King of the Sea : )
Be blessed, lovelies-

It's Fall, Y'all

This past Saturday, Stephen and I met his parents and sister Sarah for a day filled with hay, farm animals and pumpkins. Of course it wasn't just us, though. Our niece Ava and nephew Reed came along for the ride. Because let's face it, a bunch of adults at a pumpkin patch without kids? Creepy.

From left to right, clockwise: Stephen's sister Stephanie, Me, Frances, Jeff, Ava and Reed

Ava thoroughly enjoyed the corn box. She wouldn't get too close to the animals...

But Aunt Leslie sure did. For new readers, it's time I tell you about my obsession with goats. I LOVE me some goats. Needless to say, I was in heaven.

We went on a hay ride. Oooohhh....Aaaahhhh.

I grew up on a farm (cattle farm), so it cracks me up how awkward some people are around farm animals. Parents were sanitizing their kids' hands every 30 seconds, which I thought was a hoot! (Trust me folks, dirty as they may seem, those farm animals are 10x cleaner than most things you come in contact with.)

I also got to meet a couple of very sweet ladies who read the blog. One I met by the goat pen and the other, by a haystack. That's where we Arkansans like to hang out on the weekends, you see. BIG thanks to both of you for reading this silly thing : )

Fun day, kids. Fun day.

Lastly, we got a sneak peek of our Christmas Card/One-Year Anniversary photos that the fabulous Bethany of Bethany Blair Photography took. OH MY LORDY....LOVE!!! We can't wait to see all of them in a couple of weeks.

Dress from Savoir-Faire...conveniently coming up in tomorrow's outfit post.
If anyone out there in NWA needs pics of you and your husband or your kids or just you....send Bethany an email. She is SO easy to work with and had really great ideas. Thank you again, Bethany!

P.S.- If you could, please send out a little prayer for our friend Kyle today. His dad passed away unexpectedly this past weekend and the funeral is tomorrow. I cannot imagine losing a parent and I know he'll need lots of prayers right now and in the months to come. Thanks, friends.

Be blessed, lovelies-

The Happiest Ads on Earth

Beyonce Knowles, Lyle Lovett and Oliver Platt channel Alice in Wonderland

What happens when you take a slew of major Hollywood mega-stars and put them in crazy costumes for photos by a brilliant photographer?

Magic, darling. Pure magic.

This certainly isn't new. In fact, you've probably seen the 2011/2012 ad series for Disney shot by Annie Leibovitz floating around in some of your favorite mags. In case you haven't though, allow me to show you.

Feast your eyes, child.

Jack Black, Will Ferrell and Jason Segel as the cast of the Haunted House

Russell Brand as Captain Hook

Kiera Knightly as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz

Orlando Bloom as King Arthur

Soccer wiz David Beckham as the Prince in Sleeping Beauty

Jessica Biel as Pocahontas

Zac Ephron and Vanessa Hudgens as the Prince and Aurora (Sleeping Beauty)

One of my personal favorites, Queen Latifah as Ursula.

Julianne Moore as Ariel in The Little Mermaid

Giselle B., Tina Fey and Mikhail Baryshnikov as Wendy, Tinkerbell and Peter Pan

Up close of Tina Fey as Tink.

A little whimsy for your Thursday.

Tell me, what was your favorite Disney character growing up? Mine was Peter Pan : )

Be blessed, lovelies-
