Confessional Friday: {Link-Up}

'Tis Friday, my friends! Thank you, thank you for stopping by to say "hello"! As we gear up for the weekend, I thought we'd do our little weekly confessional sessional.

1. I confess that after 12 weeks of going without highlights, I am FINALLY getting some new blonde today. See you at 10 a.m., Crown girls (and my stylist, Casie!)

2. I confess that after ogling a gazillion pairs of heels online last night, I ended up ordering a pair of Chuck Taylor tennies. I'm in need of a good pair of flats/errand-running shoes and I'm not really a fan of Toms. I love, LOVE heels on the couple of days I'm actually in the office, but when it's the kiddo and me at home? Bring on the Chucks! Classic, cute and boy, are they ever hot right now. (Got 'em here, if you are in need of a pair.)
3. I confess that NWA Fashion Week is going on right now and, I've gotta say, I'm really not that sad I'm not going. Why? The little bambina below. I have more fun spending my nights with her now. It's so funny how your definition of an enjoyable evening changes dramatically (and for the better) after kids come into the picture.

4. I confess that I am deeply considering buying a boatload of Reese's Eggs while they're on shelves. Holy Peter Cottontail, those things are good. I always say I'm going to buy a bunch and store them in the fridge, but this time, I may really do it.

5. I confess that I appreciate each of you that participate in this little link up every week. Whether it's just stopping by to read, or actually linking up, I appreciate the support! I know there are some pretty massive (and awesome!) link ups in the blog world on Fridays, so the fact that you'd take time to mosey on over here for this wee one just makes me smile!

What's on your mind this Friday?

Made in Shades

The sun is a’shining again here in Northwest Arkansas this morning; hope it is in your neck of the woods, as well! And in hopes of seeing more sun this weekend, I thought we’d take a look at sunnies and face shapes.

Round

Round face shapes often get a bad wrap, and honestly, I’m not sure why. Some of the prettiest faces (i.e. Miranda Kerr) boast rounder faces. Another round face perk? Round face shapes tend to hold onto their youthful appearance longer than any other!
These sunnies here.

To add angle to a round face though, I would choose frames with almost architectural lines. A rectangle frame is great on a roundy. Also, look for darker frames, which help create more definition in the face.

Square

You probably have a strong, angular jawline, you lucky duck. Squares usually have amazing cheekbones, too. You might want to avoid glasses with super hard lines that can make your face look a little blocky. Instead, go for a rounder lens to balance it all out.

Long

Hope you love oversized frames a’la Audrey Hepburn because YOU can totally rock this look. Add width to a streamlined face shape with big frames. Plus, you’ll have peeps scratching their heads wondering which celebrity you are.

Oval

I’m an oval. You’re an oval. Your mom is an oval. (Sorry, haven’t done a “your mom” zinger in a while.) But yeah, I'm an oval.

A link to glasses similar to the above are included in yesterday's post.
To balance the curve of an oval face, oversized frames in a soft square or an aviator frame works wonderfully. (Ovals can also get away with a cat eye. I’m too chicken to try, but I think they’re extraordinarily fun!)

Heart

You’ve gotta lotta heart, you vixen, you. Heart-shaped faces, those with chins that are thinner than their foreheads, should look for shapes to balance the width of their faces. Look for frames a little wider at the bottom.

Caroline loves her new shades from Carter’s, a little something momma scooped up for her this week. We can all only aspire to look as chic in our sunglasses…

Just Fur You: (Outfit Pics)

To take a line from  'Let It Go', the famed song from the animated-phenom Frozen, "The cold never bothered me anyway."

I'm in the minority and I tooooootally know it, but I don't mind winter. (There, I said it. I'm ducking in preparation for the objects being hurled at me.)

Vest via Belle Boutique (in store) // jeans here // turtleneck here // sunnies here // lucite bracelets c/o Savoir Faire (in store) // pyramid spike bracelet and infinity woven bracelet c/o Ettika
Hear me out, though. You see, I detest temps above 90 and really, really loathe crazy humidity. In fact, I avoid going to these sticky and hot places like the dadgum plague.

Yet, I live in Arkansas.

Ironic that we spend nine months out of our year sweating our tails off in this state? Perhaps.

All that to say, I'm doing whatever it takes to stay warm and toasty right now. And also doing whatever it takes to get more wear out of this furrrrociously awesome fur vest. (I had to...sorry.) And some bracelets from Ettika, my new favorite place to get accessorized via the interwebs. (Seriously, y'all have to check them out!)

What has been a staple in your closet for these cold and snowy months? Tell me, because I may need to add it to mine!

Oscar Favorites, Top Five

Happy Monday, oh loves of mine. (Happy Monday...that ought to be an oxymoron...)

Hope all of you are staying safe and warm, wherever you are. We've got a good few inches of solid ice and snow on the roads here, so looks like our little family will be staying put today. We're kind of selfishly excited to have Stephen here for the day, though ; )

Did any of you watch the Oscars last night? Although I hadn't really seen many of the nominated movies -- you know, since we had a baby and dates went by the wayside -- but I did get a kick out of all the pretty dresses, dapper gents and Ellen. I love me some Ellen.

Here were my Top Five moments of the evening:

#5 Lupita Nyong'o and her gorgeous blue stunner

Let's be honest; the woman could wear a bed sheet and look phenomenal. Her face, her body, her beautiful skin and delicate features...gaw. It was perfect. As was her positively mood-elevating acceptance speech for her supporting role in 12 Years a Slave.

#4 Pharell Williams

I love that they kicked the musical numbers off with 'Happy', his upbeat original song for Despicable Me II. I love Frozen as much as the next guy, but if I have to hear 'Let It Go' another time, I may spontaneously combust into a million little icicle particles. (Unless, of course, it is my niece's version of the song. That one is amazing.)

#3 The Epic Selfie
Needs no explanation. And it broke Twitter.

#2 Bette Midler

I'm a Bette diehard. The woman can do no wrong. The fact that she reprised one of her most famous songs for the memoriam portion of the show...well, it gave me chills. 'Wind Beneath My Wings', indeed.

#1 Matty Matt's Acceptance Speech

I thought it was one of the most eloquent I'd ever heard. He thanked God, his wife and kids, and was quite heartfelt about it all. And, the best part, he concluded it with his famed "Alright, alright, alright!" line. He wins. For the speech, for the suit and for the humble attitude that makes him one of the most approachable actors of our time.

What were some of your favorite moments from last night's 86th Academy Awards?
