Happy Halloween + Random Thoughts

1. First thing, we need to discuss the cuteness below. (I know I'm partial, but she kills me with those little cheeks and eyes!) Caroline sends her best wishes for a very Happy Halloween to all of you!

Caroline's bow was made by the beautiful Elaine of Honey Pie Accessories! There will be a full post on this fabulous shop tomorrow, just in time to buy your little one some adorable accessories for the holiday season.

2. Can I please say how happy I am to be wearing non-maternity pants again? Yes, they're comfortable; there's something to be said for a zipper and some buttons, though.

3. I am loving maternity leave to the nth degree. It's going to be exquisitely difficult to say goodbye to our little lady every morning come January.

4. That said, we took our first trip through the Starbucks drive-thru yesterday afternoon because I thought my head might explode from being stuck inside for another day. I had a Pumpkin Spice Latte and Caroline had...a nice nap : )

5. I purchased this scarf and these jeans from H&M and I would suggest you do the same. Talk about comfy cozy!

6. Anyone out there have a preferred baby-wearing device? (Moby, Ergo, etc.) I'm looking to get one, but wanted to poll the masses first. I like the look of the Moby, but wondered if it might be a bit tricky to put on without assistance.

7. I've rekindled my relationship with sweets now that I'm not pregnant anymore and can finally stomach sugar without wanting to heave. With that said, I've got a box of Halloween confetti cupcake mix in our pantry, just begging to be whipped up. Say a word of prayer that I don't eat every last one of them in one sitting. Because I may.

Tah-tah for now, dolls.

  1. She is a doll baby! I had the moby wrap fro Gray and after you practiced a few times, getting it on alone was easy! The only problem that I had was my hot natured boy would sweat like crazy! I was always worried he would over heat.

  5. We LOVE the Boba wrap, which is similar to the Moby but a little cheaper. Google it. It's amazing-so much that we bough two and use it all the time still when she is 7 mo old. It's my one must have baby item!

  6. What a sweetie :) Like you, I have a petite frame and the Moby didn't work well for me becuase there is SO MUCH fabric. It felt really bulky and I always worried that I never had it tight enough. We bought an Ergo and loved it but sadly my sweet E hated being in any sort of carrier so we took it back...

  8. I've had a bjorn, a sling, and an ergo. Honestly, the sling is my favorite b/c you can use it from newborn on. Both Megan and Addy love that they can lay in it and get all snuggly, then when they're bigger, I have them forward sitting and then finally on to my hip. I even wore Megan with the sling to the Christmas train last year, and she was a year and a half. I love the Ergo too, but it's trickier to put on than I thought, but once you get it on, it's super comfortable for me, and they have some adorable fabrics in it. I like that it can go on the front and the back too.

  9. what a sweetie! congrats on pants with buttons and zippers - feels like a million bucks, right?

We love the Baby K'Tan. It keeps them snuggled right up to you (Olivia loved to nap in hers). You can wear them a bunch of different ways and it's the best for travel - we breeze through airports with that sucker. Perfect for newborns and older babies.

  10. The Moby wrap was too hard for me to get on by myself. Check out the Sakura Bloom slings -- they are easy to use and high quality!

  11. I used a Moby for both of my kiddos. It was great for the grocery store in the winter, they were all snuggled up and hidden away from germmy, inquiring people. However definitely buy it in a boutique so they can show you how to wrap it! Once you get the hang of it, it goes on easy.

  14. My daughter who is VERY tiny (5 feet and 90 pounds after baby Gunner's birth) tried the Moby. It seemed there was too much fabric. She purchased and LOVES the K'Tan. Gunner loves it, too. Hope this helps!

  15. I use the k'tan and it's amazing because it's like a wrap but it just has two loops instead and is sooo much easier to use! My babe falls right to sleep when I put her in.

I had my babe about a week before you so I've lived going through pregnancy with you! hopefully you find something that works for you

  16. My husband and I just purchased the Ergo. After going back and forth between the Ergo, Moby or the Baby K'tan, my husband said he would be more comfortable with the Ergo. In fact, he said the wrap looks too "girly-girl!" Ha! The verdict: we both LOVE to wear the Ergo! So easy to put on and our baby girl is all nice and cozy inside.

She is a precious baby, Leslie. We just welcomed our Caroline on the 16th and we're having a blast with her! I know you feel the same about your Caroline!

  17. I love my baby k'tan. My daughter is 7 months and she loves it. I looks like the moby on but so much easier to get on!! It's great for quick grocery store trips and is super comfy for long walks. I also have a ring sling and love it too. I use each for different times b

  18. I love my baby k'tan (and so does my 4 month old)! We have been using it since she was a newborn. I tried the moby but it was just too much to deal with for me, so I exchanged it for the k'tan. Super easy to use, comes in sizes so it fits appropriately, and has lots if different positioning options. Caroline is beautiful! Congratulations!!

  19. I am small like you and the Moby was just to much fabric and too complicated. I tried it numerous times and even took it back to the store to have them help me and I just couldn't make it work. Ended up with the Ergo and LOVED it!! It was so easy and comfy and it worked well with baby's spinal cord and posture. Supposedly the Bjorn isn't good for them if you face them out (but I did that with my first and she is fine ;)). Anyway, I used the Ergo until my son was 3 and it held up perfectly and he never hurt my back. Very comfy!! Caroline and gorgeous and almost makes me want a 3rd!!

  20. I didn't have the Ergo for my first but got it with my second. I don't know how I lived without it the first time around. Love it!

  21. I use the Ergo and love it. My son is now 10 months old and I wear him still, especially if he is having a bad day. A friend let me borrow her Moby and I could never figure it out without watching a youtube video.

  22. She is too much cuteness in one package!! I have worn all three babies. With Will, I used a Bjorn like pouch, I thought it was great. With Anna, I used a sling (which I think the American Academy of Peds has came out with a caution when using with infants) and again thought it was great BUT with Sarah I purchased a Moby. Her being born in February I wanted something she could be snuggled down in and stay warm and free of people breathing on her because let's face it, if someone has to get up in your bosom to see a baby, they probably won't!! Oh my goodness...you can ask my family, I wore Sarah FOREVER in the Moby. Seriously I wore her in church in the Moby until she was 15 months!! She slept every week! The church folk were shocked when she finally would be out and they could see how big she was!! Getting it out of the package, I was intimidated but after a try or two, we were a match made in heaven! I loved that I could put it on before we left the house and just pop her in it when we got out, taking away the need to lug the heavy baby seat everywhere! Well, then came other mom duties, ie cafeteria duty and I needed my front free. When she was about 10 months, I tried a Beco and she hated it and then I tried the Ergo -- the Hallelujah chorus may have well been playing!! She is now 20 months and rides lots in it, especially when we are at school. We do cafeteria duty, mom reading, school parties, hiking or touring DC last Fall, all in comfort of my back and the Ergo. She falls asleep every single week as we are wiping tables at school. All I can say is ask friends me see if they have a few you two can try. Babies are picky and you hate to drop the $$ and her throw fits every time she is put in it!! Sorry for the length, but baby wearing is wonderful and I love to share our experiences!!

  23. The MOBY! Hands down my favorite! Don't be intimidate by it, watch a few YouTube videos and you will have it down! I also have an Ergo but prefer the Moby. Good Luck!

  24. Another vote for the Baby K'Tan. I wore my little guy in it from 2 months until about 14. It was really easy to get him into and I loved the option of wearing him forward facing, chest facing or on the hip.

  25. we LOVE our Ergo! so easy to use and doesn't hurt your back or shoulders!

  26. I have loved my moby!!! Life savor....I have a 11 week old. I also have an ergo for when he gets a little bigger. The moby is actually easy to do yourself after a few practice try's and I suggest watching you tube videos! My son lives being snuggled in close to me!
