Pucker Up

Wearing Loreal Color Whisper lipstick in Mad for Magenta at the "homegate" tailgate party we hosted at our house on Saturday.

For the longest, I was a lip gloss girl. In the past couple years, though, I've transitioned primarily to lipstick. I like that it looks a little more subdued than a ton of waxy gloss and - bonus - my hair doesn't get caught in it during a high gust of wind.

During the winter, I love reds and burgundy shades because, if there's any time to amp up the color drama, it's during cooler weather.

My tried and true favorites for cooler weather:

 1. Loreal Colour Riche lipstick in British Red

2. Maybelline Color Whisper lipstick in Mad for Magenta

3. YSL Rouge Volupte Silky Sensual Radiant Lipstick in 1 Nude Beige

Here's what they look like on actual lips : ) My skin has blue undertones and I freckle easily, so if you're similar, these will work on you!

Here's what the British Red (Loreal) lipstick looks like (pic taken last Thanksgiving).

Wearing the Color Whisper Mad for Magenta for the Maude Boutique photos back in July.

Wearing the YSL lipstick in Nude Beige at my baby shower last month.

These are next on my must-buy list!

4. Laura Mercier Rouge Nouveau Weightless Lip Colour in Sin

5. Dior Addict Lipstick in Backstage

6. Josie Maran Argan Love Your Lips Hydrating Lipstick in Happy Honey

Are you a lipstick girl? What are your favorite shades?

  1. Oh I love the Maybelline Color Whisper line too! I have the Mad for Magenta and the Rose of Attraction which is gorgeous!

  2. I love my Color Whisper in Made it Mauve. I have one in my purse and one in my makeup bag!

  3. The magenta lip looks lovely with the chartreuse dress. For realsies.

  4. I *wish* I could pull off lipstick.
That being said - I need to dress a little more lipstick-y in order to even pull it off at all :)
You're gorgeous... I'm going to work on that!

  5. I need to pick up a stick of the Color Whisper. I have heard great things about it.

  6. I used to be a MAC Lip Glass ONLY gal because it really *does* look awesome- but yeah. Wind would gust and all of a sudden my glasses were streaked with my gloss. Ugh. I switched to lipstick awhile back and the only one I've found that doesn't dry out my lips or feel too heavy is Clinique Different Lipstick. I LOVE 'Tenderheart'- it's the PERFECT mauvy-nude for everyday.

  7. Love your beauty tips-we have similar complexions, so I always appreciate you sharing what works for you! I rarely comment, but I can't wait to hear updates on Caroline!
