The Night the Girls Ran the Show

What happened during last night's half-time was nothing but absolute fierceness. From Alicia Keys's soaring rendition of the national anthem, to J.Hud and the kiddos from Sandy Hook, it was insanity in pure female form.

Then Beyonce came out. Queen Bey took the stage for thirty minutes of dancing and singing like a maniac. And she killed it.

Killed it dead.

Side note: I'm installing some kind of hydraulic system in my living room so that I, too, can be lifted up through the floor to appear when we have dinner guests.

Just when I thought my head would explode from pure entertainment, Bey brought Destiny's Child out for a couple numbers.

Suddenly, I was transported back into high school, driving around with my friend Jessica in my pearl white '98 Honda Prelude. (For the record, I graduated H.S. in 2003. I. Feel. Old.)

For those who grew up in the Destiny's Child era with me...

...allow me to take you back.

  1. Beyonce was the only reason I even watched the super bowl this year. She was definitely looking fierce!

  2. Glad I wasn't the only one that lost my marbles when all three came out. Bey never let up the entire time she performed and I loved it. It has always amazed me that she is so shy in real life cause you would never know it.

  3. I agree, hello 90s. I was a total Destiny's Child fan and so glad they're on the comeback. Alicia did kill it. But as for Bey...she could've consulted someone on her attire? #putonsomeclothes

All in all, the ladies did come out on top. :)

  5. Yesss!! When the other girls came out and started singing I was all like "Whaaaaa?! Destiny's Child?! Woohoo!!" And then Gene said "Who?" Really, old man? I traveled back in time to HS too {also a 2003 graduate!} and it was wonderful.

  11. Three comments about Beyonce at halftime:
    1. Only Beyonce could be her own back up dancer.
    2. Loved Destiny's Child.
    3. However, I also loved the moment when Beyonce was like, "OK, you girls can get off the stage now because I'm about to break it down.

  13. I wish I had recorded the amount of screams and shrieks the girls let out at the super bowl party I attended! I think we scared the men! LOL Beyonce' killed it. Madonna needs to take notes a little late now that she performed last year, but still! :) AMAZING!
