Well, I Never...

Hi and hello...is it me or did Monday get here rather quickly? I want to GO BACK TO BED. Sigh... But I hope everyone had an eventful and safe weekend doing, well, whatever it is you enjoy doing : )

This might be the most random post of 2010 thus far, but I seriously had NOTHING to talk about today that was un-fashion or un-home decor related. So my friend Mitsy had a fun little post on her blog where she listed 50 common things she had never done. Kind of like that game Never Have I Ever. Which made me think....

....there are lots of common things I probably haven't ever done either. So I decided to create my own list of "Nevers" for your reading enjoyment. I didn't list 50, because I was pressed for time and that takes FAR more brain power than I'm capable of at 9:00 A.M. on a Monday. But I did list 11.

So here goes. Never have I ever:

1. Shot a gun.

Most people find this absurd because I'm from Arkansas and supposedly all southern women are "good shots". Truth be told, I'm scared to death of them. But maybe if I had a very patient (and brave) teacher, I could learn to shoot.

2. Owned a pair of Crocs.

Now, I say this not to offend any of you Croc-lovers out there. I just never felt compelled to purchase rubber clogs before...

3. Been to New Jersey.

However, with the emergence of Jersey Shore, the best reality show to surface in recent history, I feel the urge to make the trek to the great state of N.J. and visit Seaside Heights.

4. Donated blood.

I know, I know. I'm a heartless, horrible person. But I am DEATHLY terrified of having blood drawn from my body in any way, shape or form. I get faint and queasy just thinking about it. Which brings me to a great story about having to get an I.V. awhile back, but I'll save that for another post entirely.

5. Eaten oysters.

Why, you ask? Not sure. I think just the slurping and raw-ish-ness that goes along with consuming them is enough to make me yack.

6. Changed a flat tire.

I've never had a flat either, though. But, that's what I pay Nissan and road-side assistance for : )

7. Mastered the art of using chopsticks.

Every time I visit a sushi place, (or any Asian restaurant for that matter) , I'm always SO flippin hungry by the time the food arrives that I don't have the patience to fool with them. Which makes me feel highly uncultured, especially since one of my BFFs is Chinese.

8. Worn real fur. (MIttens in photo below are faux!)

No, I'm not a member of PETA. Yes, I think that skinning poor, defenseless animals is atrocious. More than anything though, fur is just TACKY.

9. Ridden in a hot air balloon.

I'm not scared of heights, but I had this book when I was a little kid about a boy who decides to take a ride in one at the fair. Well everything is going smoothly until the balloon starts drifting too far away from the fairgrounds. Unable to land the balloon (since apparently neither his parents, nor a balloon driver accompanied him), he is forced to come up with creative ways to get back down. I don't want to have to deal with the stress of this possible scenario. So I'll just keep myself on the ground thank-you-kindly.

10. Had to use a fire extinguisher.

I hope I never have to either, but if the situation arrises, I learned how to operate one of those bad boys in Girl Scouts back in the day. Thanks again Ms. Bonnie, for teaching us girls the basics : )

11. Snuck out of the house.

Probably because I grew up on a farm plot WAYYYY out in the country and you could hear any sound within a 5 mile radius. Well this made sneaking out to meet boys during high school next to impossible. So mom if you're reading this, be thankful you raised me in the Boondocks : )

That's my list of "nevers" in a nutshell. Now, I'm dying to hear yours, so if you'd like to share a couple (or 50) , feel free to shout em' out in the comments field below!

  5. If you ever travel to Seaside Heights let me know - I'll meet you at Karma ;)

I've never worn crocs although they have some really adorable ballet flats out now and I'm thinking I might need them for the garden this spring! ;)

Lastly - try shooting a gun - it's actually really empowering! I haven't shot one since I was in my teens but it was pretty awesome. (Under supervision mind you).

  6. This is great honey! I love that bedroom picture. It reminds me of my lazy behavior every day after work! I have never been in the snow; I have never been out of the country; I have never been on a cruise; I have never had oysters! I hope you have a better Tuesday friend! Kori xoxo

  7. I think this is an awesome idea for a post!! I give blood, but I get anxious about it every single time, and still get light headed. I just know now to down the juice before and while I am giving and then stock up on the free cookies!!

  10. That's a great list - I too have never worn real fur {yuck!}, changed a flat tire, or given blood. I have been in a hot air balloon - you should totally do it sometimes, so much fun!

  14. I share a lot of your nevers, especially the donating blood -- I too am deathly afraid of having blood drawn (and needles in general).

Here's one for me: I've never dyed my hair.

  19. Like you, I have never snuck out of the house, and for the very same reason you didn't.
I have also never ridden in a hot-air balloon, nor have I donated blood.
    I have never bungee-jumped, or sky-dived, or water-skiid.
I have never been to the North Eastern states either.
