Trend Watch Wednesday: Made in the Shade(s)

Know what song this post makes me think of? (Cue the sick 80's beats...)

"I wear my sunglasses at night
So I can, so I can
Watch you weave..."

That's right. That tune would be none other than "Sunglasses At Night", originally brought to you by Mr. Corey Hart. (All children of the 80's, holla.)

Anywho...today's TWW is all about...you guessed it...shades. Vintage ones.

When you're thinking of sexy specs for summer this year, think Mad Men. Think Audrey Hepburn. Think Twiggy. This season, it's all about retro frames.

Although aviators will never go out of style, rounded frames and even cat-eye frames (like the Paloma Picasso below) will be the ticket throughout the warmer months.

Net-a-porter has some gems:

Vintage Paloma Picasso

D-frame acetate sunglasses by Victoria Beckham

Belladone Cat-eye frame acetate sunglasses by Chloe

Vintage Christian Dior

However, if you can't drop several Benjamins on a pair of retro shades, fret not. Totally trendworthy and, best of all, inexpensive:

-Suite Life Sunglasses from Lulu's - $9

-10 Day Shades from ModCloth- $11.99

-Almost Famous sunglasses from Lulu's- $9

and, just because they are so stinkin' cute and, therefore, I think I need them:

-Nerd Alert frames in black from Lulu's- $9

Ok, so exciting news...be sure to visit Brunch at Saks tomorrow because yours truly will be guest blogging for the day!

That's all I've got. I'm out like permed hair and parachute pants.

Be blessed, lovelies-

  7. I know this sounds somewhat oxymoronic since the theme is 'trendy' but I must tell you, the best vintage sunglasses you can get are from you mom, or furthermore your grandmother.

Now they may not be Dior, however my fashion weapon of choice always seems to be my grandmother's teal tinted glasses from the - I don't want to know what era they were from. But they make heads turn. Never hurts to ask if there's a pair in storage with your name on it.
