Fierce 'n Fit: {Wedding Edition}

Hi girlies! Thanks so much for your precious comments about Louis yesterday…he blushed last night when I told him how handsome y’all thought he was ; )

Today I thought I’d talk about my wedding exercise regime + food plan, since a few of y’all have emailed me. My fiancé works for a nutrition vendor in Northwest Arkansas and also loves to work out, so I have a built-in trainer/nutrition resource at the ready, 24/7. Each of us are pretty hardcore in the gym and eat very healthfully about 80% of the time. However, we’re both planning to kick it into even higher gear during the next 6 months leading up to the Big Day!

Here are my stats:

Age- 26

Height- 5’ 5”

Weight- Between 110-120 : )

Current physical shape- On a scale of 1-10, 10 being Jillian Michaels, probably a 6 or 7.

Goals- I’m really not looking to lose any weight before September 17th, just looking to tone up a little more. Spray tanning would probably help to skinnify, so I’m adding that as part of my exercise program, ha!

What I’m doing to get there:

Monday- Biceps & Triceps (for some good exercises, see this post), 25-30 minutes of cardio (my fav is to walk up a 15% incline at about 3.8-4.0 mph)

Tuesday- Legs (go here for some good moves) + 20 minutes of cardio (usually do sprinting/walking intervals on this day)

Thursday- Shoulders (go here for moves) + repeat Monday cardio

Saturday- Back & Chest (go here) + repeat Tuesday cardio, but do 30 minutes instead

*Wed, Fri and Sun are off days

What I’m eating to get there:

For breakfast, I’m trying to eat more protein, so I usually start my day with scrambled eggs with a ½ slice of pepperjack cheese for added flavor. I also like Greek Yogurt with Honey (Fage is a GREAT brand), as well as high fiber oatmeal with Splenda and 1 Tbsp. lowfat butter spread.

S and I have also been eating TONS of asparagus, spinach, mushrooms and berries lately, to make sure we’re getting our RDA of fruits-n-veggies. We love V8’s Low Sodium vegetable juice, too! Lowfat string cheese has also been a recent staple, as well as skim milk to ensure I’m hitting my daily calcium goals.

Lastly, both of us have been really trying to be more careful about our protein choices. We’ve been eating lots of fresh salmon, boneless skinless chicken breast, fresh deli roast beef (pre-packaged is LOADED in salt) and lean cuts of red meat, like flank steak.

We have about 2 cheat days a week where we pretty much eat anything we want. And trust me, when I say we cheat, we CHEAT. Hamburgers, Pizza, Sonic Ice Cream, Dr Pepper, whatnot and whathaveyou. We just try to make an effort to move on those days, like taking Ari for a hike or doing yardwork.

Like I said, we are not really trying to lose weight, as we’re both at healthy weights right now. We really just want to get trimmed up for summer AND the wedding.

Disclaimer
I said all of that to say, a doctor- I am not. So go check with your physician before you begin working out or start an eating program. Because that’s the healthy way to do it, plus I don’t want to get sued by some crazy who says she read this, did it and then gained 79 pounds : ) So yeah, ask your doc.

Are you doing anything specific to get beach ready this summer? Or maybe you're getting ready for your own wedding or vacation?

Be blessed, lovelies-

  2. You are so tiny!! You have what so many people struggle with covered. It sounds like you are living a life of moderation which is what it is really all about. Junk in moderation. Cheat days in moderation! And you get your exercise in. That's awesome. You and hubby will surely be fit on your wedding day....considering you pretty much already are. Oh, and props for posting your weight. Not that you should be embarassed but even so....I'm super super private about my "number."

  3. First, that photo of the bride with the gloves is awesome. Second, the whole "getting sued by a crazy" is even more awesome (not the being sued, but the way you said it.. haha! Loved it!) And finally, YOU GO GIRL! I'm so impressed! I am in the same boat with wanting to get healthier and tone up, etc, but not really lose weight. I mean, I'd be fine if I dropped like 5 lbs and kept it off, but no worries if I dont.

Do you work out in the morning? I used to be an evening worker-outer, but I seriously have been SO overcommited in the evenings lately. Work dinners, events, obligations, etc, are eating my evenings! (And the Lady Gaga concert was last night so that counts as an "obligation." haha!). Anyway, I'm TRYING to carve out more time, but I am just so bad in the mornings! Any tricks on carving out time=mucho appreciated!

    XOXO!

  4. I like reading over other's work out plans! Maybe its Google Chrome's fault or maybe you forgot to link up but I wasn't able to check out the other places you mentioned in parenthesis.
Regardless- I adore that you emphasize you aren't meaning to loose weight, just tone. I've got hard boiled eggs on hand as well as some amaze FAGE yogurt with fresh berries tossed in. I may go make a bowl now ;)

  6. You look amazing! I am currently trying to lose some weight with Jillian's 30 day shred. I was ill for a week or so and had to take a break and shewwwww, that about killed me! Maybe I will combine her DVD with some of your workouts! They seem very do-able.
