Whirlwind

via

It's hard to believe (at least for me) that it's already Thursday  Wednesday. This week has been fast and frantic and frankly, I wouldn't have it any other way : )

Right now, my home office is what I like to call "an organized disaster"; papers everywhere, random magazines and books lying around and a disassembled desk in the middle of the floor, begging to be put together.

But I have coffee. And mini Snickers bars. And Excedrin. Which in my book, is a balanced diet.

A few realizations I've made:

1. Daytime television is awful. For all the stay-at-home-moms and retirees out there who are forced to watch this mess every day, I salute you. Not that I have time to watch TV, but I do work better with background noise, which brings me to my next discovery...

2. Pandora has become my best friend. I can officially say this because yesterday I was feeling frisky and decided to give another music site a chance, so...

3. I tried Spotify, only to realize that all of Twitter and Facebook could see my music preferences. Not that I'm embarrassed to jam out to Demi Lovato and The Beibs, but...

4. Okay, I might be a little.

5. The office supplies section of Target is going to get to know me real well.

6. One can never have too many Sharpie pens.

Alrighty, y'all. I'm off to write a few emails and make some calls.

.......................................

P.S.- Thank you all for your very thoughtful comments on Monday night's post. It's been a rough week, to say the least. We're staring down the barrel of a complex procedure and lengthy recovery time and it's been hard to remember to count our blessings. You guys and this blog though are such a God-send and I'm utterly grateful for your friendships and prayers. THANK YOU.

  3. I'm not sure that I could stay at home all day and work. I'd blog all day and never get anything done! haha! I always tell Matthew that I want to be a stay at home Mom... I even bribe him by saying that I'll have dinner cooked every night! lol

  6. Two notes:
    1. When you open Spotify, you can click File > Private Session, and it won't show on Facebook or Twitter what you're listening to. So when I want to seem cool and listen to Bon Iver or the Civil Wars, I don't click it; when I listen to the Glee soundtracks I do! :)
    2. When I was on maternity leave my FAVORITE daytime TV was on SoapNet. They ran 2 hours of old 90210 episodes every day!! So, so good. Not sure if you have that channel but you should check!

  7. Aww, I am sorry you have been going through a hard time. So good to have someone you love to help you through this. Praying for you.

  8. For the last nine weeks during maternity leave I have seen every season of America's Next Top Model and Project Runway. The thing is, I watched them all the first time they aired. Think of all the money lost on creating good daytime tv!

  18. I was working from home once as well and here are my TV suggestions :

1.Today Show (I'm a little obsessed & have been a fan for ages. 2. Live with Kelly, however the only part that really interest me is the beginning when they're talking about random topics and headlines. 3. The View - the Hot Topics seg is usually interesting. I'm also a fan of Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Barbara is also okay because, well, she's a legend. The others rack my nerves a little (or a lot in some cases). 4. Kathie Lee & Hoda (again, the only segment that I really pay attention to is the opening).

It's all down hill from there. Until 4 when Ellen comes on and I think her show is quite entertaining.

This long post may have not been of any interest ha but I can totally relate on this annoyance!

  19. I'm not sure if it's the smell, the feel or what but I too am obsessed with all things Sharpee. It's normal...at least I like to think so. ;)

  20. Give Jango.com a try for your music! It is free (where Pandora will make you pay after so many hours in a month). And you can select certain artists to be on one station (as random as you want) and they also throw in some new artists for you to try. I love it at work!

  21. Lucky you, with your new commute! You will have SO much fun decorating your home office. Good luck with your upcoming procedure. It can be hard to remember to stay positive, but it sounds like your hubby is there to keep you where you need to be!

  22. Do you feel more productive? I expect to start working about an hour and half earlier than usual. I really think in this day and age more companies should allow people to work from home. Today and tomorrow are my last days in the office! Whoo hoooooo!

  23. Jealous you get to work at home! But then again, it would be hard to force myself up off the couch to actually work! And I've been thinking about you guys and praying all goes well with your procedure and that you can have some peace about it!!

  24. I will be thinking about you and praying for you girl. I'm glad that you have the ability to stay home to work if you are going to have to deal with a lengthy recovery time.

I would be excited to work from home but would fear that I'd get nothing done. I worked freelance once and literally did nothing until 10 mins before something was due... and yes I am a total procrastinator.

I love that you have a designated work space maybe that was my problem and I can't wait to see how you have it all set up [I at least hope you'll share].

For now, take care of yourself, your heart, your well being and let your husband spoil you always. My thoughts and prayers are with you sweetie! oxoxo

  25. You should try General Hospital...it's the only thing I love on Daytime!
