Trend Watch Wednesday: This American Life

It's a good thing it's Wednesday, because I've been dying to show you guys this feature for TWW for quite some time! But first, a few random tidbits from moi:

-I'll be speaking at the University of Arkansas at their College of Business tomorrow about social media, one of my favorite topics in the whole wide world (because I'm a nerd like that, haha!)I'll be presenting solo on behalf of my employer, which is both exciting and incredibly nerve-wracking. I just hope I don't get flustered and say something ditsy : ) Now all I need is the PERFECT outfit...

-Did anyone else watch Millionare Matchmaker last night? I sorta/kinda tune into this show when I can catch it, and last night's episode was pure craziness. Patty, (the matchmaker), was trying to find a date for this super-crazy, Howard Hughes-like millionare, who Patty kept referring to as "Gummi Bear," because he was soft and squishy and, well, you get the point.

Low and behold, she did find a cute little blonde named Stephanie who was willing to go on a date with him, but it was a total trainwreck. "Gummi Bear" brought a monkey, (yes, a real, live monkey), to join them AND even wore his sunglasses the entire date, (which was at night, mind you.) If you can catch this episode in re-runs, it's well worth 60 minutes of your time!

Enough about eccentric millionares, let's talk trends!

Shopbop.com recently did a look book on the Americana trend that we'll be seeing in stores this spring. I went on a little mission last night to Forever 21 and saw TONS of red, white and blue pieces that look identical to the looks featured below.

This trend is classic, clean and oh-so-girl-next-door.

  3. oh my goodness. I totally watched the Gummi Bear episode last night!

Celeb Gossip: His brother is Brandon Davis who used to date Micha Barton at the time that the OC was popular. I used to think Brandon was swoon worthy until I realized that he looked at though he had rolled around in a baby pool of EVOO and just paper towel dabbed a little off.

    ....oh my celeb rambling

  9. Good luck on your public speaking engagement. I am terrified of this and have never had to do it until a couple of weeks ago. It was a smaller group then what you will have but I did OK. If I can do it so can you!! Love the looks. I wish I had the guts to wear high heels and short shorts anywhere except going out at night. I supposedly have the legs but just not the nerve!

  10. Leslie--what in the world was up with that creepy man last night on the show??? I could barely watch because of the sunglasses and his WEIRDO psycho voice-- very entertaining though... gotta love the matchmaker!!

And yes, I love the All-American ensembles--makes me get excited for summer and the 4th of July!!

  14. I am LOVING the nautical, blue and white striped look right now! I especially like the blazer.
I loved seeing that you are speaking about social media tomorrow because I have recently done a lot of research on social media. I'm thinking about looking for a job in social media, and it was nice to see that you love it! Let me know if you have any advice about finding a job in the field... :)
