Fall 2010: {50's Style}

Dress by Prada; Clutch by Marc Jacobs

Good mid-morning everyone...if you're reading this, congratulations; you survived Monday! Know what the best part is? We don't have to do Monday again for a whole 6 days.

Max wanted me to tell everyone thanks for their sweet comments about his awesome Razorback outfit from yesterday's post, haha. He loves clothes as much as his mommy : )

One of my presh blogger friends, Sarah, from The Strength of Faith, suggested to me yesterday that we have a "Countdown to Fall Fashion Week" here on A Blonde Ambition. I know it's like a million degrees outside, but I think a good dose of autumn style is just what we need to get us through these next few ridonkulously hot weeks. So next week, Monday through Friday, we'll look at some of the brilliant fall collections for 2010 from some of our favorite designers. Thanks again for the great suggestion, Sarah!

Today, we're going back to the 50s- Mad Men style.

Inspired by something I did a few weeks ago for the Summer Soiree series, I wanted to do a Mad Men-inspired fashion post. Retro is going to be HUGE this fall, y'all.

From the poofy ponytails and preppy sweater sets, to pearls and peep-toes, this is the season to channel your inner Betty Draper.

Louis Vuitton Fall 2010 Runway

You may have seen some shots from the Louis Vuitton Fall 2010 runway already, but a second look never hurts, right? I saw a PERFECT replica of the above LV handbag in San Francisco 2 weeks ago and am now kicking myself for not buying it. Grrrr!

Louis Vuitton Fall 2010 Runway
I'm positively dying over this perfectly preppy pale yellow sweater and A-line skirt. How pretty and feminine is this? Love, love, love...

And speaking of sweaters....

Moschino wweater in gray; Milly NY sweater with LV faux fur collar

Nothing says 50s quite like some fancy-schmancy jewelry and you'll need plenty of that to pull off this look. Take, for instance, these fine examples below:

Kenneth Cole New York Pearl Cluster Stretch ring; Kate Spade earrings

Chanel Secret Camelia Watch

Be blessed, lovelies-

  7. I am FINALLY getting on my computer after a long day at the hospital. I LOVE THIS POST! Thanks for giving me the shout out - I can't wait to see what else you dig up. I am so ready for tights, scarves, boots and sweaters.

I love that Louis Vuitton! For some reason LV just screams "fall" to me. I was watching SATC (the first movie) when I was on call on Friday night and I love the part when Carrie gives Louise her own LV. What a great moment.

Here's to making it over the hump tomorrow!
