Project Runway and Peanut Butter Pie

Raise your hand if you're happy it's Friday! All I can say is Hallelujah! The weekend is officially here.

So who all tuned in to Project Runway last night?  I have to say, this week's episode, although not as stellar as episodes from previous seasons, was remarkably better than last week's. Maybe it was the aroma of a yummy Peanut Butter Pie that made it that much more enjoyable : )

Hold the phone...did I say Peanut Butter Pie?

Oh yes, I did.

I haven't attempted a pie in awhile and thought, "Why the heck, not?"

As most of my co-workers can attest to, I love bringing various baked concoctions to the office from time to time. I'll admit, I was pretty tempted to keep this one just for myself, but thought that might be a little dangerous...Possible equation: Me + A Whole Peanut Butter Pie= Leslie gaining 10 pounds in one weekend.

So yeah, I will share.

The recipe came from one of my favorite Paula Deen cookbooks, Just Desserts, but I've also added it to my blog here. The hardest but most crucial part of a pie is always the crust. Lucky for me, I grew up baking with my Memaw, (my dad's mom), and she taught me everything there is to know about Southern cooking, including how to make a killer pie crust. Mine still isn't on the level of hers, but it has potential.

Anyway, back to Runway.

So what did you guys think of the winning look? I'm definitely a Gretchen fan after watching last night's episode. Her look was very 2010- hip, modern and trendy, but without being too over the top.

I also really liked Mondo's dress, inspired by Mary Tyler Moore. I liked it so much in fact, that I would have actually preferred him to win.

Mondo's dress and Valerie's dress

My third favorite was definitely Valerie's red dress. I'm not crazy about the zipper down the front, but the shape and fit of it was pretty spot-on.

It was also nice to see a real guest judge for once, Marie Claire editor, Joanna Coles, instead of the usual B-list actors and socialites that have been guest judges in the past, (yeah, I'm talking about Selma Blair from last week- what the...??).

The highlight of last night's Lifetime line-up though was On the Road with Austin and Santino, starring former Runway contestants Austin Scarlett and Santino Rice. If y'all haven't watched it, I would highly suggest doing so. It comes on right after Project Runway and it's only half an hour long. Last night, they went to Rustin, LA to make over a female army captain for her graduation party and it was a hoot.

I will definitely be tuning in to that show. Ok pretty people, I'm out. Have a safe, fun and relaxing weekend doing whatever it is you do. See you Monday!

Be blessed, lovelies-

  13. I have a friend from CT (he was a weekender, came in from NYC on the weekends) who is a swanky hairdresser and works on Project Runway! Every now and then I'll see him as they're frantically getting the models ready. So cool. He loves it and it seems like a great show to work on.
