It's Here- The Poofy Ponytail Tutorial!

Oh me. Oh my. The day has come, y'all.

Today, I shall finally divulge my poofing tips for creating a great bouffant ponytail, my favorite hairstyle of all time. Well actually any hairstyle that involves teasing one's hair to it's near death is perfection in my book. But one must practice careful discipline when perfecting the art of poofing.

It ain't easy, ladies.

We girls here in the South are trained from a young age to wield a rat-tail comb and can of aerosol hairspray. Why, even a few Yankees have gotten the hang of it ; )  But for those of you who are unpoofed, badly poofed or afraid to poof (but really want to), today's little video aims to helps you out a titch.

And for those who are unwilling to be poofed...well...I pray for your souls. And for the lack of volume in your hair.

Note: We had a little mishap with the camera battery going dead, so to watch the tail end of the tutorial, you'll need to click on the second video.

Another Note: I got a tweet while ago saying the videos weren't showing up for them. They look ok here, but I know tech things can work differently depending on what server you use. If you can't see 'em, shoot me an email and I'll send them to you that way!

Here's hoping this tutorial brings you good fortune and great hair.

Be blessed, lovelies-

  3. Love it! I always have the rats nest look going on and when I try to smooth it out it all falls flat. I will definitely try to straighten a piece in front and flip that over the top of the poof! :)

Did you actually use the rat-tail comb?

  11. Great video! The poof ponytail is one of my go-to hairstyles as well. But instead of using a clear ponytail holder (great idea btw), I use a regular one and then wrap a small section of hair around it, pinning it underneath with a bobby pin - super easy and looks so polished! Thanks for posting this! XOXO

  20. Excellent tutorial.
Do the clear ponytail holders work for thick hair? I've lost way too many non-clear ones attempting to pull my hair up because it's just so thick.
