Frivolity

We've talked about all kinds of joy-themed topics this week, but sometimes, joy doesn't have to be deep and philosophical. Sometimes joy can exist in your favorite chewing gum, a nostalgic song on the radio or a Murder She Wrote marathon on Lifetime, (guilty as charged).

Here are a few of the favorite fun and frivolous things that make life a little more worth living:

1. Coca-Cola Classic
Forget that diet mess, give me the hard stuff. This delicious bevie makes me want to give the inventor a big 'ol hug.  And if you can put it on a bed of crushed ice in my favorite Razorback Tervis Tumbler? Oh man, now we're talking.

I think a lot of my love for this fizzy drink comes from nostalgia. My dad and I would sometimes split a can of Coke when he would get home from work. He taught me how to pour it, hold the glass close to my face and let the fizz bounce off and tickle my nose. Then we would collectively go, "ahhhhh" and smack our lips : )

2. My daughter's bath products
There's nothing better than the smell of a freshly bathed baby, specifically my own ; ) We use Noodle & Boo shampoo , as well as Aden + Anais Mum & Bub bath wash and lotion each night before bed. Every time I smell these products, they reminds me of Caroline.

3. Chick-Fil-A sweet tea
I also like to refer to this stuff as the drink of the southern deities.

4. Billie Holiday Pandora station
No one mellows me out quite like Billie.

5. Lucky Charms
I rarely buy them because I'll eat the whole box in one sitting. I'm  not a huge fan of sweets, but I could eat mounds of this cereal.

Those are a few of mine, but please tell me what little things give your life an added boost of joy!

  1. I don't have experience yet in #2, but I can 100% agree with every other one. Diet Coke is for the birds. Mexican Coke is where it's REALLY at, though. The only kind that they still use real can sugar for. Have you had it? God bless Coca-Cola and Chick-Fil-A sweet tea.

  2. I loved the lotion I used on my boys so much that when I found out it was discontinued I bought 12!!! Well...they are 11 and 9 and no longer want to smell like a baby so I have a 1/2 dozen to spare! ;) Secretly I sneak some for myself just to remember how yummy they smelled as little babes.

  5. I'm not a big coffee drinker, so I get my caffeine from good ol Coca Cola! I love it! Could probably drink it every day, but try to limit it to just a couple of times a week. I would much rather drink regular Coke than any of the awful, chemically derived diet sodas out there, that's for sure! :)

  6. Chickfila sweet tea is definitely nectar of the gods - oh so wonderful! I also love to splurge on Anthro's capri blue candle - the scent is divine!

  9. Have you had Mexican Coke? They use real sugar in it! I'm allergic to high fructose corn syrup so I can usually only have Diet Coke (& I honestly try hard not to really drink soda), but when I find Mexican Coke somewhere it's pure bliss. There's a little restaurant that's right off my college campus & when I'm craving junk food I get mozzarella sticks & a Mexican Coke (one of the only places I can find it), they always know what I want when I come in!

  11. Cupcakes! Particularly of the red velvet variety... eating one always brings a smile to my face. A good yoga class does that for me too.
