These Are My Confessions...

In the words of Usher...these are my confessions

I had written up this cutesy little post for today's weekly Wedding Sneak Peek series post, but about halfway through it, wanted to gauge my eyes out with my letter opener.

Sorry, that was graphic and violent and this is a nice little southern blog about skirts and sweet tea.

In fact ladies, I think I may have reached the point of wedding overload. Hearing the words like “rehearsal dinner” and “bustle” and “registry” have set my teeth on edge here lately. Basically, the thought that we still have three more weeks of this madness makes me want to crawl underneath my disaster area of a desk with a gallon of pinot noir and an entire cheesecake until sometimearound September 17th.

In other words, things are going swimmingly on the wedding planning front.

On top of all of this, we are working on a mammoth of a project at work and yesterday, Outlook kindly reminded me that the deadline is just one week to the day before our wedding.

Splendid.

These are not legitimate complaints. I realize there are earthquakes and hurricanes and famines going on in the world right now, but I’d honestly take a 5.9 on the Richter scale over this business.

All this brings me to today’s topic: Confessin’

I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours!
1. We’ll consider the rambling mess above my confession #1 – I’m sick of planning weddings, mainly just my own.

2. I couldn’t care less about those dadgum life planners that everyone on Twitter and Facebook and blogs keeps raving about. I didn’t buy one because I refuse to spend $50 on a spiral notebook. I think I’m going to go buy some random item, like a toaster with our monogram or a toilet plunger with damask print, and start raving about how it has changed my life, just as a sort of social experiment to see if it starts a trend. But then again, I’m not really that cool, so I’d probably just look like nutjob who loves her household appliances just a leeettle too much.

3. I was so tired on Tuesday night, that I went to bed without taking my make-up off, woke up the next morning and wore the same make-up to work. I did take a shower, but didn’t have enough time to wash my face and reapply. Plus, I figured that day old makeup was better than no make-up, at least where my natural beauty was concerned.

4. I haven't cooked a meal since....well, I can't remember when. We (S and I) used to cook up a storm during the week, but lately, it's all Chick-Fil-A and Subway. Hey, at least we're eating diet fast food. Right...right??

5. I may or may not have considered picking up a teeny weeny baby Razorback cheerleading outfit when we were at Cracker Barrel last week. (Yes, we eat dinner at Cracker Barrel...just call us Mamaw and Papaw.) Let the record stand - I'm not with child. But aren't things just so darn precious when they're in miniature size?

6. And speaking of Cracker Barrel...I can never get past four pegs with that stupid game they keep on their tables. I believe this means I am an "IG-NOR-A-MOOSE" or something to that effect. Yet, I keep on trying...one day, y'all.

7. My breakfast yesterday was a tall vanilla latte and three Junior Mints. Breakfast of champs, I tell you

Now it's your turn...let's hear those confessions!

Be blessed, lovelies-

I'm so excited you found my blog! I've been following yours since January, and I LOVE it!! I was hoping you were reading my blog because I know you have a lot of followers, so I was hoping to get some "traffic" off of yours!

The hair turned out great! :) It's definately a switch, from blonde to brown, but I like it! Hope last minute wedding stuff is going well! Can't WAIT to see pics from your BIG day! :) <3

  2. Haha! About a month before my wedding, all I wanted was to be laying on the beach with a cold drink in my hand. If my (now) hubby had even joked that we should elope, I would've jumped at the opportunity!

  3. I seriously think we could be best friends. I love everything about this post. I agree with each and every thing you said haha! O and i confess, I eat Cracker Barrel too ha!! Nothing wrong with that:) (Must be a southern gal thing)

About the wedding, it will be here before you know it!! Enjoy every second of it and don't let it stress you out. That's no fun! Pretty soon you'll be walking down the aisle and it will all be worth it!

  4. I seriously loved this post. Sometimes you just need to let it all out. It's better to be open and honest rather than pretending everything is a fairy tale. Thanks for being real! xo

  5. As soon as I saw your post title, I started singing. That's my one and only confession, at least on your comments :)
I know you're over the whole wedding planning thing, but make sure and relish it the day of. You'll finally get to see all your hard work come to fruition, and believe me, it pays off!
I'm not sure if this will make you feel any better, but my husband and I moved from TX to CA the week before our wedding. Talk about throwing a wrench into our plans!
    Just remember to breathe!

    Ok, longest comment ever...done!

  6. I feel you on the wedding planning frustrations...and just wanting to get away from it for a bit. ;) I feel that way about my wedding a lot... it's SO stressful.

I'm so glad to hear that someone else out there doesn't care about the EC planners either. I'm so tired of hearing people gush about them... Glad I'm not alone!

  7. Ha! I remember just being totally OVER my wedding at one point. Totally normal. I got so burnt out looking at rings that I told my husband I couldn't imagine EVER going into another jewelery store again. You will be happy to know that that feeling passes :)

I also love your brutal honesty about the agenda trend that was burning through Twitter recently. That gave me a good chuckle :)

  8. i totally understand about the wedding planning... i felt that way before mine. and now i miss all the planning! i had to find a new hobby (blogging) to fill all my time after the wedding was over! haha.

i totally relate to wanting to pick up a teeny weeny cheerleading outfit (except ours would be georgia bulldogs). im not with child either, but i always look :)

  9. hahaha I love it! My favorite part was the gallon of pinot noir and the entire cheesecake! Hang in there! I am a firm believer that honeymoons were made to help you regain your sanity after the wedding junk!

  10. I was laughing out loud pretty much throughout this whole post.

HILARIOUS confessions. And I am with you on the life planning notebooks too. $50 is a bit much.

Can't wait to hear about your decorated toaster :)

  11. GIRL. This is too good. And I'm trying to figure out what that damn life planner does that my iPhone/iCal can't...
Don't belittle Cracker Barrel! I'm pretty sure the hash brown casserole could bring world peace.
;) Good luck with the planning!

  12. As a new follower and fellow lover of all things Cracker Barrel (I'm from Lebanon, TN...home of the first CB) I feel an obligation to show you how to beat the peg game! I've known since I was a little girl, when my daddy taught me. Next time Im down your way, we can brunch at Cracker and conquer the pegs!

  13. LOVE LOVE LOVE this post! There is nothing wrong with a little randomness, those are sometimes the best.

Chickfila is totally diet food chickadee!

Good luck with all of the planning....or should I say the 'not' planning!

    xoxo

  14. Laughing out loud. You're awesome. I had sour smarties for breakfast today, and "butter toffee coffee." It's a new Keurig flavor, yum. Except no wonder I'm starving. And I definitely think you should by a damask print toilet plunger. I'm sure it will change your life, and you might be able to convince me that it'll change mine ;)

  15. I love this post! I'd prefer a monogrammed toaster over one of the $50 life planners as well. I don't understand the trend.

When I'm stressed, I turn to Chick-fil-A too. It just seems healthier than other fast food options.

I can never win the Cracker Barrel table game either. And it frustrates me that my fiance can do it.

    xoxo

  16. I totally understand about the wedding planning . I was the same way. You just get to a point where you just want it to BE HERE ALREADY!

I have a hard time passing up adorable baby clothes too...it's good to be prepared right? :)

  17. Let me start by saying I absolutely LOVE your blog! It's one of my favorites!! (I follow PLL--you know how that goes :) )
Anyways ... love this post! It cracked me up! Sometimes a girls just gotta vent.

oh and btw cracker barrel is not a sin :) It's a southern thing. LOVE IT!

Don't let wedding craziness stress you out..keep telling yourself "you only do it once so enjoy it while you can!"

  18. I love cracker barrel even though I only get to go about once a year. Mj finished the whole thing on that darn game. How...I don't know.

  19. HAHA! I love this post! I feel so guilty when I do the non face washing routine with day old makeup, so I'm VERY glad that someone else has done this before! I almost ordered the $50 life organizer planner thing....uggghhh....still debating. I always buy planners and never really use them..... I think I may just go for the Lilly Pulitzer planner....it may not be AS WONDERFUL...but it's cheaper...and cute. P.S. Love your blog!

  20. I LOVE your #2!!! haha, it seems I hear about those planners EVERYWHERE lately! Crazy.

A confession or two: 1. I have gone out to dinner every night this week instead of eating cafeteria food at college! I had a venti vanilla latte and reese's pieces for breakfast today! And...it's lunch time now! I'm hungry! Off to each caf food!

  21. Oh My Goodness! I thought I was the only one in the universe refusing to spend $50 on a life planner (notebook). I went to Target, picked up a turquoise notebook, a packet of colorful page dividers, a pack of Flair Felt-tip pens in pretty colors, printed for FREE, courtesy of Microsoft Office, a daily to-do list template and a blank monthly calendar page, borrowed the label maker from work and tapped out my name in fancy script to slap on the front of my notebook... all for under $11 - it was the Flair pens that cost the most, but I just could not resist them.

I get your attitude on the wedding planning, too - though my wedding was a long, long time ago, I will never forget feeling burned out by the whole process about two weeks before the big day. But everything turned out wonderfully, and so will yours! If not everything gets done, it won't matter one bit when you're walking down the aisle towards your life-mate.

Love, love your blog. Have a great day.

  22. I don't get the planner thing either?! My life isn't busy enough to spend $50 on one. Maybe when I am a mom it will help me stay organized, but for now I am good.

As for the wedding part, I was right there with you when I walked down the isle 3 years ago. I was so over planning my wedding I just wanted it to be done with. The actual ceremony and reception was awesome! Towards the end I just didn't want to deal with it anymore so I didn't. I did what had to be done and then stepped away. Our wedding day was perfect. Our photographer said I was the calmest bride he has every seen. I think it was because I knew everything would be okay and I didn't stress about it. Do whatever is right for you.

  23. I'm your newest follower. I love cracker barrel, subway, and chick-fil-a so eat away. Haha! I am def wearing my makeup from yesterday. Oopsie. Woke up late this morning and just went with it. Happy Thursday!!

  24. HAHAHA! I totally agree about those planners. WHY is there a video for one?! Seriously... it is nothing special. I especially love the part in the video that says "it has tabs!" Don't most planners?!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Bhahaha!!!! I needed this today! It has been one of those weeks. I loved confession numero dos! I am right there with you. Even with the half price coupon they ran a few weeks ago I just don't get it. I will take me little Tarjay dollar bin one that fits in my purse any day and spend the extra $49 on some cute duds! Try to relax and enjoy this time. Once it is all over you will feel lost without all of the planning, or I did anyways. I was like "Now what do I do with all of this spare time?!" Best wishes sweetness!!!

  26. You're not alone in your Cracker Barrel affinity. I got a CB gift card for my birthday and it was hands down my favorite gift, and I got some pretty great gifts!

I'm also glad to know my hubs and I are normal and others eat out instead of cook as much as we do. We were just saying how it's $$$ and no bueno.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm so glad someone agrees about how stupid those planners are!! People keep tweeting pictures and I thought, "That looks cute, I like notebooks." Then I saw that it was $50 and just about lost my mind!

Plus, who writes everything in a planner? Everything important goes in my calander on the computer or my phone...I don't have the time or energy to carry around a notebook when I can enter it in my phone in about .2 seconds.

  28. I think you should take a mini-vacation this weekend - complete with a stop at Cracker Barrel. I'll even send you one of the 5 gift cards I got there for Christmas last year to use. Yes. I get them as Christmas presents!

  29. This post is hilarious. I've definitely fallen asleep in my make up and then worn in the next day, too. Sort of shameful, but life goes on.

  30. I think I would of have ten new zits on my face the next morning if I ever went to bed without taking it all of my face! eeek! Lucky girl for being able to pull that off!

    ReplyDelete
  31. You are absolutely precious! I JUST found your blog and love it! I actually laughed out loud on this one...esp at the Mawmaw and Pawpaw...but now I'm suddenly craving hashbrown casserole and biscuits with apple butter! Thanks for keeping it real in the NWA (my old stomping grounds)!:)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Girl, we are kindred spirits. I am guilty of all of the above! Especially being SO over the planning notebook thing. I know people that spend so much time on those little books and Pinterest, they don't have time to actually DO or make the things they pinned or the things they put in the book!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Couldn't have said it better myself about the planners! Thank you for validating me and making me smile! I've been keeping my similar thoughts to myself so far :) You are going to make a stunning bride and it will be all worth it! Just a little bit longer... :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Loved your confessions! Hang in there and like everyone said, the wedding will be here before you know it - yay! Also, I've been a slacker with my diet lately so don't feel bad. Back at the gym for me soon!

When you both are married it will be so nice to have your normal schedule back and you'll have plenty of meals at home! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Thank goodness! I'm glad to hear I'm not the only under 30 person who loves to eat there!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I am so happy I'm not a lone in this wedding thing - I am starting to get freaked out, we have it all planned it's just the details. Add to that I'm super busy at work and have been pulling 60+ hours each week... crazy!

I'm a sucker for little shoes so I feel you... if I could I'd purchase TONS of shoes for my wee ones who aren't even a blink in my eye yet!

Good luck with all the planning and if you need someone to share some Pinot and cheesecake with - call me girl!

  37. I just found your blog via Kelly and I must confess, I had a fun pack of peanut M&Ms and a large unsweet iced tea for breakfast. Breakfast of champions right here folks!! :)
