For whatever reason, throughout the past couple of years, Thursdays have unintentionally become Random Post Day. My theory is that by the end of the week, my mind is so shot that rambling strings of thought are about the only thing I can write. Either way, makes for a fun post, no?

1) I have volunteered to host Thanksgiving at our house this year…gulp. I’ve obviously lost my mind because I have never hosted a major holiday meal, nor ever cooked a major holiday meal. I’m hoping my Mom and Mom-in-Law will be able to help me avoid a major cooking disaster. If all else fails, I hear Domino’s is open on Turkey Day…

2) I’m ten kinds of excited for the Maude Boutique photo shoot that I get to be in on Sunday! Maude is doing a photo spread featuring a few Northwest Arkansas bloggers dressed in the latest fall/winter fashions! Here’s hoping for some fabulous photos and an amazing girls’ day playing dress-up!

3) I bought a bunch of Halloween candy (Snickers, Reese’s Cups and Peanut M & Ms) for our trick-or-treaters next week and Stephen and I have already polished off half of it on our own. I knew this would happen.

4) A few of y’all have asked which skinny jeans I prefer. It’s funny, but the best brand I’ve found is Forever 21’s Fab Stitch Skinny Jean. Get this - they’re only $10.50 PER PAIR. I have a pair of J. Brand that I paid an arm and a leg for, but I still don’t like them as much as Forever’s version. They hold up to many washes and sustain their dark color really well. Sometimes, quality really does come cheaply.

5) Side note: I may wither and die (or pout and whimper) if I don’t get these pants from Express soon. Red is perfect for Razorback game days after all…

6) We had one wedding gift left at the reception without a card and without a bag. Like literally, it was put out on the table just like it was purchased at the store. It’s stressing me to no end because I’m a stickler for writing thank you notes and it bugs me that I don’t know where it originated. Anyone that’s gotten married had that happen to you? What did you do?

7) In honor of All Hallow's Eve next week, I busted out the Freddy Krueger pen today. It was a gift from my work pal Nicki a couple years ago and I definitely enjoy using him on days where I feel like ripping someone's head off at the office Halloween.

And finally…

8) My SIL Sarah had her baby earlier this month and little Reed was able to come home from the hospital last week! He had to stay there for about ten days while they kept an eye on his lungs, but he’s doing well now and settling in at their house. We hope to get to go visit him soon now that he’s home and healthy!

Be blessed, lovelies-

  2. We had a gift that we weren't sure who it came from so we tried to eliminate the possible suspects. Eventually we figured it out just from conversations we had with family. Since then I always try to write what I gave the couple in the corner of the card real small so that if it gets lost from the gift they will know where it came from.

  3. The gift situation happened to me as well. I called the store and got them to help me track down the name of the person that gave us the gift. They were slightly hesistant at first for privacy reasons, but eventually did what they could to help.

  6. Forever 21 has good skinny jeans? Who knew. I'm all over it. $10.50-done. We are hosting thanksgiving this year too. Mj is in charge though-it was his idea.

  7. I'm LOVING red pants right now too!! Hopefully I can find a pair at H&M or something over here. No Forever 21s in Italy. Also some of my favorite skinnies of all time are from Forever. They're worth it. Congrats on being an aunt! And don't worry about scarfing down all that candy, the wedding's over!! :o)

  8. I definitely feel your pain on the hostess stress. I hosted Thanksgiving for the first time last year, and I was definitely convinced we'd be ordering some takeout after I screwed it all up. :) But thankfully it turned out just fine, and I'm sure yours will too! If you want some recipe ideas, here's what I made last year: http://mrshargrave.blogspot.com/2010/11/thanksgiving-food.html. :)

  10. I'm a fairly new reader and this is my first time commenting, so HI!

I just got married on September 10th and we received a handmade blanket that didn't have a card attached. Recently my MIL asked me why I sent her friend a thank you card for a scrapbook when she made us a blanket. Whoops! Now we know who gifted us the blanket, but no clue whom the scrapbook is from.

  11. It's my first comment, too. :) I got married over 2 years ago and to this day I still get stressed out when we use our (very expensive) Emeril pots and pans set. I still have NO CLUE who gave them to us even though we tried every method to figure it out. Somewhere out there is a scorned wedding guest... sorry to whoever you are! I hope you figure it out, otherwise you will seriously think about it every time you see that item! Good luck!

  12. We hosted Christmas at our house 5 months after we got married for my whole extended family. It was so fun to have everyone over and give my aunts and uncles, who had hosted it for 28+ years, a much needed break. I loved that I was finally adult enough to do this. Have fun with it, and use as many family wedding gifts as possible!

  13. We had the same gift issue happen to us. We just went through the guest list and tried to weed out who we knew got us a gift and with process of elimination we figured it out!

  15. We just got married Oct. 8th and had the same situation with a gift....randomly placed on the table in a bag, but no card and no names attached to it. It wasn't on our registry so no way of tracking it down via the store. The gift is very old fashioned (and not our style) and all of our possible guesses of older relatives don't add up since we know what they gave us. We're at a loss.

  16. We have a gift that was at our reception that didn't have a card and I never found out who gave it to us....this was almost three years ago and it still bothers me. Somebody didn't get a thank you card!

  20. Love your SIL's baby - so so cute and Express jeans are the best - however I don't think I could fit into the skinnies, lol! I like your header - super cute and hope you have a nice weekend!

  21. SO wish I could squeeze into those F21 Jeans they look adorable. In other news your desire for the Red Razorback jeans made me want to tell you - on our honeymoon we spent a lot of time hanging with another older couple, both of which were Hog fans. :) We had an SEC connection. How's that for random?
