Eleven Things

via Atlantis Home
So I was recently tagged in a fun little game (which y'all have probably seen floating around the interwebs on other blogs) by the lovely and hilarious Jayme over at Kentucky Blonde.

If you don't follow and/or read her blog, please do so.

I like to think of Jayme as my sistah from another mistah. We both love wine, good-looking Southern men and clothes. All good things, right?

Anywhoodle, here's how the game goes:

~you must post the rules
~post 11 fun facts about yourself
~answer the 11 questions that the tagger posted for you & then create 11 questions to ask the people you've tagged
~tag 11 people and link them in your post
~let them know you have tagged them

Eleven Fun-ish Facts About Moi

1. I'm a compulsive list-maker. I make lists for my lists. I keep different notebooks for each type of list. I make rough drafts, revised and final versions of my lists.

It's enough to wear a sister out.

2. Strange Celebrity Crush: I think if I weren't married to Stephen, I'd pursue Jonah Hill. I enjoy a man who has the stones to make fun of himself. That takes confidence. And confidence, my friends, is sexy.

3. I have very eclectic taste in music. Some of my favorite artists currently on my iPizzle: Johnny Cash (Arkansas' Son), Stevie Wonder, Bon Iver, Ray LaMontagne, Needtobreathe, Etta James and Tom Petty (and his Heartbreakers.)

4. I have a phobia of balloons. Some kid popped one of those Mylar balloons in Wally World yesterday and I about lost it. Might as well have been an AK-47.

5. I get squeamish watching babies eat. Or looking at photos people post of their babies eating. I'm sorry in advance to all the mamas I just offended.

6. I don't like getting pedicures. My feet are way too sensitive. I'm forced to do them myself at home.

7. My middle name is Paige. I'm not sure if that's considered a "fun" fact, but it's a fact nonetheless.

8. I was a radio/TV major in college before switching over to English. I legitimately wanted to be a news anchor until a disastrous practice newscast in my broadcasting class. Teleprompters are the devil, y'all.

9. I met Christina Ricci once. I worked as an extra on a movie she filmed in Memphis. She is tiny and very polite.

10. When my friend Sarah and I were little, we used to play "office". I would be the boss and she would be the secretary. (Even at a young age, I was demanding.) We used a baby monitor as an intercom and I stole Post-It notes from my dad's (real) office to supply our fictitious one.

11. I used to want a perm when I was little. I begged my mom (who was a hairdresser) and she always refused. Looking back on some of the horrific pictures of permed folks from the 80s and 90s, I'm so thankful my mom said 'no' to that request.

Here are the questions that Jayme posted:

1. What is your all time favorite movie? (you can only name one!)
Shakespeare in Love starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Joseph Fiennes.

2. If you could have any super power what would it be and why?
The power to clean up our entire house just by twitching my nose, a 'la Samantha on Bewitched.

3. If you could be besties with any celebrity, who would it be?
Reese Witherspoon. We're both from the south, we both have blonde hair and we both got married in 2011. Soulmates? I think so.

Or Paula Deen. I sometimes refer to her as my long-lost grandma.

4. If you could take any trip in the world where would you go?
The Amalfi Coast in Italy.

5. What's one piece of make up you can't live without ?
I can only choose one? Hmmm, let me get back to you on that one...next year...because that's approximately how long it will take me to come up with an answer for this question.

6. What's one accessory (jewelry, scarf, handbag, etc) that you don't leave the house without?
My engagement ring and wedding band : )

7. What is your dream job?
I have several. I'd love to be able to say one day, "I'm a writer." Of course, if you count the blog, I suppose I already am a writer. I would just like to do it full time...and for payment.

I'd also be game for opening a little boutique. Selfishly, just so that I can get discounts on cute clothes.

8. Sausage or bacon?
Neither. Sugar cured ham.

9. What's the best advice you've ever received and who gave it to you?
"Marry him".

Said by my Mom after my family met Stephen.

10. What's your guilty pleasure? (tv show, movie, food, etc.)
Reality TV. Starbucks. Dangerously high heels. Matt Damon. Cutesy lingerie.

I'm a pretty guilt-ridden person.

11. What's your typical Starbucks order?
What is this Starbucks you speak of? An astronomy club, perhaps?

I kidd.

Tall vanilla latte. Full fat milk, full sugar syrup.

Here are the girls I'm tagging in this game:

You. You reading this. Yep, I'm talking to you.
I can't pick 11 blog friends, so I'm tagging you all. Play along, why don't-cha?

Here are the questions I'm asking:

1. If you could raid any celebrity's closet, who would it be and why?
2. If you were a shoe, what would you look like?
3. What is your biggest pet peeve?
4. Favorite song of all-time?
5. Are you a dog person or a cat person? And why? (If you don't like animals, we can't be friends.)
6. You're queen for a day. How do you spend your royal 24 hours?
7. What's the most delicious thing you've ever eaten?
8. What scares you the most? (This can be deep and complex or shallow...whateva you feel like!)
9. Which celebrity do you wish would drift off into obscurity?
10. You're 16 years old again. What advice would you give your younger self?
11. What's your Starbucks order?

To make this more fun, if you do decide to play along with this little game, come back here and leave a link to your blog post in the comments field sometime this week!

Ready...set...go!

Be blessed, lovelies-

  2. Oh, you are so much like me! I've always said that Reese would play me in a movie about my life because she's blonde, southern and funny! Also, Paula Deen would play my Memaw. Oh, I love her and just hope I get the chance to meet her someday!!

  12. I never comment, but frequently read your blog and I love it. I just wanted to tell you that the fact that you're an English major definitely shows in your writing! Your blog is one of my favorites because of your writing style. It's so silly (or petty, maybe), but I love that you have great grammar and write with flair! I double majored in Journalism and Speech Communication in college and I wish I wrote as half as well as you do!

  14. Well it's a darn good thing you realized that teleprompting was not your thing while you still had time to switch things up! Celebrities are always teeny tiny I hear from people who meet them.

  18. I totally get your balloon fear. When I was a teenager, I worked a at place similar to Chuck E Cheese and I had to blow up balloons with a helium tank for birthday parties and every once in a while a balloon would just pop for no apparent reason while I was blowing it up. Mini heart attack!! I took part in this post over at my blog, BT dub.

  19. Gah! I have a major phobia of balloons too. Like a sweaty palms, have to excuse myself from situations that involve them, phobia. So glad I'm not alone!
