To My Baby Girl

via Hostess with the Mostess

First off, thank you all so much for your congratulatory tweets, comments, FB messages on the Blonde Ambition page, etc. We are delighted to share this amazing journey with all of you. Sweet Caroline Rose is already so loved and we feel so blessed to be able to celebrate this with such a large community.

I didn't really do a Mother's Day-specific post yesterday, since I figured announcing our Baby Girl was probably sufficient, ha! However, I did want to take a moment today to share a letter I wrote to Caroline yesterday, (which I've done on actual paper at home).

.......................

Dear Caroline,

As I write this, I'm overwhelmed with gratitude and excitement for the opportunity to be your mommy. I want you to know that, above all, you are so loved and were so wanted. Your daddy and I pray daily for you, as do so many other people...you really are such a cared-for little girl already!

Since today is Mother's Day, I wanted to take a moment and let you know how lucky I feel to be your mom. I am so excited for all the fun things we'll do together: shopping, decorating, playing dress-up, dancing in the living room, trips to Sonic, putting on make-up, getting our nails done, reading books...and so many more.

I cannot wait for you to meet my mom, your Nanna Lacy, who also is so excited to meet you! Your Nanna is already buying you gobs of clothes and hair bows, and is beside herself to kiss your sweet cheeks in October. Your Nanna Lacy is one of the most special people to me and I hope that you take after her in so many ways.

And your daddy's momma, your Grandma Francie, is thrilled to get to meet you, too. She is an amazing cook and I hope you two have lots of fun baking in the kitchen together when we visit her.

You also have FOUR great-grandmas who are already crocheting little dresses for you to wear to church. They are all incredible, strong women who will shower you with lots of love, hugs and kisses.

My sweet, sweet Caroline, above all, know this: I am so proud and feel so privileged to have you as my daughter. Know that you were created out of Love and Faithfulness, and given to us as a precious gift from God.

There aren't a lot of certainties in this lifetime, but I am certain of two things: I was meant to be your daddy's wife and I was meant to be your mommy. Everything else, baby girl, is just minor details.

With love,

Your Mommy
